Why donate dāna?

Dāna is the Pāli word for generosity, the act of giving.  Once you have joined our community of students, your dāna funds my ability to work with you and all students within our student community.

As a full-time Buddhist Anagārika, I have given up almost all worldly possessions and responsibilities so that I may dedicate the entirety of my life to Buddhist study, training, practice, and meditation — and, until I am fully ordained as a monk, to the tutelage and coaching of the Buddhadharma to those who approach me for training.

What I provide to our student community goes beyond the scope and depth of common Buddhist/Dharma Coaching, and aligns much more closely with professional Buddhist Psychology and Advanced Buddhist Path Training.  The dāna you offer is accepted with tremendous gratitude for making this community and my continued work possible.

Since leaving to ordain as a Buddhist monk, dāna also makes it possible for me to continue to be able to provide my teachings and compassionate support pro bono to those who are less fortunate or who have little to call their own except for their practice.

I have no job or other source of income and I must rely on donations in order to cover my required medical, food, and shelter expenses until I ordain as a monk.  Therefore, I ask that those who have an income to contribute as much to our student community after each session as they feel is appropriate for the value that they receive from my time, energy, and dedication to improve and hone their spiritual understanding and deepen and improve their daily practice; and, also for the counselling and support that I offer by providing highly-personalised instruction and guidance on how to practically apply the Dharma to their real-life problems and difficulties that stand in the way of their progress.
♥
If you are not part of our student community, but would simply like to make a donation to help support us or what we are doing here, your donation will directly serve to sustain the work that I do to guide others who are in genuine need of compassion, guidance, and care to be free of their suffering or to attain spiritual success; your support and kindness will not go unnoticed and would be greatly and sincerely appreciated.
♥
Requesting pro bono student status: money should never come in-between a practitioner and his/her teacher, so those who cannot bear the burden of providing dāna are welcome to submit a request for "pro bono student" status.  Once approved, pro bono students are welcome to offer as much or as little as they are comfortable and happy to provide for the time, energy, and value that they receive from our time together.  Pro bono training would not be possible if not for the kind generosity of all the students who make up our community.
♥
Donation re-direction disclosure: an appropriate portion of dāna-received goes directly to my own personal efforts to help clothe, feed, and protect those who are in poverty, those who are homeless, and those who are destitute and veritably suffering immensely; and, especially to those who are clearly in genuine need of someone who will recognise their humanity and are in need of my concern, my support, and my compassion.

all of services and teachings are donation-funded, please consider making a donation to our student community today

Since leaving to ordain as a Buddhist monk and becoming a full-time Buddhist anagārika, donations directly make our student community possible.  Without your generosity, it would not be possible to provide teachings and training to guide those who wish to attain spiritual success, or to those, both living and dying, who are in genuine need of support, compassion, and care.

Thank you very much for your kindness and your generosity.

Michael Turner is a pre-monastic ariya-puggala and a full-time Buddhist anagārika; and he is also a deeply accomplished streamentry mentor and applied-dharma teacher. He emphasises and teaches the practical application of the Buddha's teachings in our everyday lives to overcome our human problems that stand in the way of making measurable progress toward Buddhist enlightenment and he is particularly adept at explaining them in ways that can be easily understood and practiced by Western Buddhists. He has been meditating and cultivating the views and techniques that generate indestructible resilience, inner-strength, and direct experience for almost 30 years and has helped countless numbers of students and peers enhance and course-correct their practice to make veritable progress along the path toward Nibbāna.
